Greg Oden Early life
Greg Oden was born in Buffalo, New York, on January 22, 1988. He grew up in the city of Terre Haute, Indiana, and attended Lawrence North High School, where he played basketball for the school’s team.
Oden was heavily recruited by college basketball programs across the United States and ultimately chose to play for Ohio State University. He played for Ohio State for one season, in 2006-2007, before declaring for the NBA draft.
Greg Oden Career
Greg Oden was selected as the first overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers. He made his debut for the team during the 2007-2008 season, but his rookie year was cut short due to a knee injury that required surgery.
Oden would go on to miss the majority of his first three seasons with various injuries, and played in just 82 games during his entire tenure with the Blazers.
In 2012, Oden signed with the Miami Heat but did not play much due to injury. He played his last game in the NBA in December 2013. Oden later joined the Jiangsu Dragons of the Chinese Basketball Association and the BIG3 basketball league in 2017.
