Neeraj Chopra was born on December 24, 1997, in Chandra village, Haryana. He is the only son in his family, along with two sisters. His father works as a farmer, and his mother is employed as a domestic worker.
For his primary education, Neeraj attended a school in his hometown. Later, he relocated to Chandigarh to pursue his higher education and earned his degree from Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College. In 2021, Neeraj secured admission to Lovely Professional University in Punjab to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Athletic Career
Like many accomplished individuals, Neeraj drew inspiration from his own weaknesses. During his early years, he faced ridicule from his peers due to weight gain. In response, his father supported his desire to join a gym. Neeraj started training at the Shivaji Stadium in Panipat, India, where he first observed javelin throwers and developed a keen interest in the sport.
International Career
Neeraj’s first international athletics competition was in Ukraine as part of the World Youth Championships. Although he didn’t win any medals in this event, it served as a valuable learning experience. This experience paid off in 2014 during the Youth Olympics Qualification, where Neeraj won the silver medal with a throw of 70 meters. From 2014 to 2021, he continued to excel and received medals at various international and national competitions.
