Early Life

Qasim hails from a Punjabi family and spent his formative years in Punjab. Notably, he is the younger brother of the former Pakistani cricketer, Wasim Akram.


In 2016, Qasim marked his initial foray into competitive cricket by representing Lahore under 16s in the PCB-PEPSI Cricket Stars U-16 2-Day Tournament 2016. His first appearance in the first-class arena occurred on October 25, 2020, when he played for Central Punjab in the 2020-21 Quaid-e-Azam Cup.

Subsequently, on January 20, he earned a spot in Central Punjab’s roster for the 2020-21 Pakistan Cup. His List A debut took place on January 8, 2021, during the 2020-21 Pakistan Cup, where he made a remarkable start by scoring his debut century on January 22. Domestic Career

Qasim embarked on his cricketing journey with Central Punjab in the National T20 Cup 2020-21. His maiden First-Class appearance came during the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy of 2020-21, representing Central Punjab.

In 2021, he earned a spot in the Central Punjab squad for the Pakistan Cup, marking his List A debut and achieving a remarkable century, amassing an impressive total of 108 runs. Notably, Qasim was also drafted into the Karachi Kings franchise for the PSL 2021 season, a trend that continued into PSL 7, where he continued to be an integral part of the team.

International Career

He had the distinction of being the inaugural pick for the Pakistan team in the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2020. In April 2021, he assumed the role of captain for the Pakistan squad during their series against Bangladesh. The subsequent year saw him as a valuable member of the Pakistan Shaheens squad, participating in their series against Sri Lanka.
