Early Life

The late Rajiv Gandhi and former UPA leader Sonia Gandhi’s son, Rahul Gandhi, was born. He is the great-grandson of Feroz and Indira Gandhi, and his late uncle Sanjay Gandhi, a well-known politician, served as his paternal uncle. Rahul’s early life did not give him much exposure to the field of public affairs. His mother, Sonia Gandhi, in particular, provided him with tender care while he was reared under the watchful supervision of his family.

Education

Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka were educated at home after Indira Gandhi was assassinated for security concerns. He started his college career in 1989 at Delhi’s St. Stephen’s College to pursue his degree.

But once his first year was up, he was accepted to Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the United States. He was detained in 1991 at an electoral gathering. He eventually graduated from Rollins College in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then pursued his M.Phil in Cambridge, England’s Trinity College.

Political Career

In 2004, Gandhi began his active political career by running for the Amethi constituency, a position that has historically been held by members of the Gandhi family. In the elections of 2004, 2009, and 2014, he won in this district.

He took up the leadership position for the campaign in the 2014 elections. Unfortunately, the Indian National Congress suffered their most severe electoral defeat, winning only 44 seats, and it was a major setback for them. After his mother’s resignation as party head of the Congress, Rahul Gandhi was named in her place. The Congress party lost in the 2019 elections once more, managing to win only 52 seats.
