Rekha is celebrated for her remarkable versatility as an actress. She received acclaim for her portrayal of diverse female-centric characters, such as the schoolgirl in “Khubsoorat” and the determined avenger in “Khoon Bhari Maang.” Her exceptional performances in these roles earned her prestigious recognition, including the Filmfare Best Actress Award.
One of her standout roles was that of an elegant courtesan in “Umrao Jaan,” which not only garnered her the National Film Award for Best Actress but also marked the beginning of a series of highly-praised performances. There were rumors circulating that she had been engaged to the actor Vinod Mehra in 1973. However, during a television interview with Simi Garewal, she clarified that she was not married to him and instead referred to Vinod Mehra as a “well-wisher.”
Political Career
