In 1966, Sunil Gavaskar earned the title of the Best Schoolboy Cricket Player in India. He made his debut in the Ranji Trophy during the 1968/69 season in a match against Karnataka, though it didn’t start on a high note as he was dismissed for a duck, scoring zero runs.
