Wendy Williams was born on July 18, 1964, in Asbury Park, New Jersey. In addition to graduating from Ocean Township High School and attending Northeastern University from 1982 to 1986, she was a student DJ for college radio station WRBB and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communications.

Radio Career

She began her career as a DJ at WVIS in the Virgin Islands. She then took a job as a substitute DJ at WRKS in New York City. A year later, it was her turn to host the afternoon show at WOL in Washington, DC. Wendy soon became one of the most popular full-time DJs at the station, hosting the most important drive-time shift. After a format change, Wendy shifted over to NYC’s Hot 97 urban station, where she stayed until 1998.

At her second station, Wendy really found her stride. Kevin Hunter, who would go on to become her agent, was at this station when Wendy met her future husband in Philadelphia.

As a result, the station moved from 14th place to second place, thanks to her candid and sincere discussions about miscarriages, former drug addiction, and her breast enlargement surgery. Williams returned to NYC in 2001 to host a syndicated four-hour radio show on WBLS.

Well known for her wild interview with Whitney Houston, Wendy left radio in 2009 to pursue a television career.
